Our Story

27Co Jewellery & Repairs is an independent contemporary store that focuses on jewellery repairs and custom work.

 

The store is owned and operated by Goldsmith Christie Wipprecht. The name is based off the element on the periodic table for Cobalt. The store’s name pays homage to Christie Wipprecht’s family roots in Cobalt, ON.

 

Christie was born and raised in North Bay and is proud to be able to contribute to her hometown.

​

Christie spent 10 years learning the goldsmith trade under Master Goldsmith PJ Walsh and completed a three year advanced diploma in Jewellery Arts at George Brown College in 2011.

 

The store will soon be celebrating three years in business at 118 Main St. W. North Bay.

Here at 27Co Jewellery & Repairs we have four featured jewellery artists that create quality, handmade and unique pieces out of Toronto, ON.

 

Firepan by Valerie Brown

Valerie Brown has a Jewellery Arts Diploma from George Brown College. She works out of her studio in Fonthill, ON. She has created jewellery lines, exhibition work and custom pieces. Her work has been in exhibitions across Canada and published in Lark Books: Showcase 500 Beaded Jewelry: Photographs of

Beautiful Contemporary Beadwork (500 Series).

 

Jewelust by Amanda Henderson

Amanda Henderson is a George Brown College Gemmology and Jewellery Arts graduate working at Goldspell studio in Toronto, ON. She creates handmade and custom jewellery from recycled gold and

silver.

Archerade by Sasha Oda

Sasha Oda is a George Brown College graduate and Goldsmith at Goldspell studio in Toronto, ON. Her style has strong silhouettes with layers of texture and pattern. Her creative process involves sketching outside of the studio on streetcars or on park benches. She transforms her sketches to jewellery by

hand and commonly creates pieces using the lost wax casting technique.

Mishka Peachka by Michelle Hishmeh

Michelle Hishmeh is a graduate of the Jewellery Arts Program at George Brown College. She has also studied and worked in hairstyling, sewing and leather craftsmanship. Michelle’s creations encompass a love of life and the living world.

Christie Wipprecht,

Christie started as a co-op student from Algonquin High School with Master Goldsmith PJ Walsh in North Bay.
 

She fell in love with the trade instantly and has been creating beautiful jewellery from then on.
 

She opened her own shop 27Co Jewellery & Repairs in 2016 and has been busy ever since.
